COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The Energeyes Association of Corporate-Affiliated Optometrists has formed the President’s Council to honor doctors who have significantly contributed to the optometric profession. The first optometrist to be named to the newly formed President’s Council, Larry Alexander, OD, will be honored publically at the upcoming Energeyes National Meeting, to be held April 25 to 27, here at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort, where he will provide the opening day keynote address.

Currently, a consultant with eyelessons.com, Alexander graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1971, served as an optometrist in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1973, and then taught at the University of Alabama Birmingham Medical School of Optometry, which he left in 1993 to practice in Louisville, Ky.

“I am very honored by this recognition and look forward to working to help build this great organization in the months and years ahead,” said Alexander. “The leadership of Energeyes is doing the kinds of things that will move all of optometry forward.”

“I cannot think of a better person to launch this program than Larry Alexander,” added Mark Uhler, OD, Energeyes Association president. “This was a unanimous, enthusiastic vote from our board. Dr. Alexander serves as a mentor to so many of us. We are the ones who are honored by having him be a part of our association.”
