ATLANTA—Eye Health America (EHA), a leader in eyecare practice management, has announced the acquisition of a local Simpsonville, S.C., optometry practice, its fifth acquisition since the company was established less than a year ago. The optometry practice belonging to Dr. Sara Bopp, OD, will merge to become a part of Clemson Eye, which EHA also acquired earlier this year. Eye Health America was formed earlier this year by LLR Partners a middle-market private equity firm. It has partnered with ophthalmology, optometry practices and ambulatory surgery centers across the Southeast U.S.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Dr. Bopp and look forward to providing additional resources and support for her and her team in Simpsonville,” said Mary Lou Parisi, president of South Carolina at Eye Health America and CEO at Clemson Eye. “Our goal is to bring together the best optometrists, ophthalmologists and ambulatory surgery centers within the region, supporting their expansion and growth while meeting the growing need for eyecare in the area.”

Dr. Bopp graduated from Southern College of Optometry and opened her private practice in Simpsonville in 1995. She specializes in family eyecare, contact lenses, eyeglasses, and the treatment and management of ocular diseases.

After 23 years as a solo business owner, Dr. Bopp said, “It’s exciting to be a part of EHA’s expansion in South Carolina. This new opportunity will allow me to focus on the part of optometry that I really love; patient care. Our merging with Clemson Eye alongside EHA’s financial and administrative support ensures our patients will continue to have the highest quality service and care options.”

Together, Dr. Adam Easterling, MD, a board-certified ophthalmologist who recently joined Clemson Eye, will work with Dr. Bopp at her Simpsonville practice. Dr. Easterling has been caring for patients in Simpsonville and the Upstate region for the past 11 years and will split his time between the Clemson Eye offices in Simpsonville and Greenville. Clemson Eye is commencing construction on a new Simpsonville Office and Medspa coming in the summer of 2019 on Harrison Bridge Road. Simpsonville is one of the fastest growing communities in South Carolina and this future location is a convenient, popular corridor, the announcement said.

Along with this acquisition, EHA’s other member practices include The Eye Associates, Clemson Eye, Piedmont Surgery Center, Montgomery & Riddle Eyecare and The Surgery & Laser Center at Professional Park, as VMAIL has reported. The company is led by a team of industry veterans including CEO, Rod Roeser, Cathleen McCabe, chief medical officer, Philip Ishman, chief development officer and others.
