ATLANTA—Eye Health America (EHA), a leader in eyecare practice management, announced Thursday that it has acquired Carolinas Centers for Sight, the company’s second acquisition of 2019. Based in Florence, S.C., Carolinas Centers for Sight is a highly regarded ophthalmology practice that serves residents in both North and South Carolina, the announcement noted. The practice and its physicians have provided medical and surgical ophthalmology services for over 30 years. Carolinas Centers for Sight currently has a team of highly skilled, board-certified ophthalmologists operating out of the main campus in Florence, as well as four additional satellite offices in Dillon, Hartsville, Loris, and Sumter, S.C. The Florence Surgery and Laser Center (FSLC), located adjacent to the eyecare clinic in Florence, offers procedures such as bladeless femto laser cataract surgery, multifocal/astigmatism premium lens implants with Extended Depth of Focus, and glaucoma retinal, and oculoplastic procedures, according to the announcement.

This acquisition marks EHA’s sixth strategic partnership in the state of South Carolina, and the firm recently announced the integration of several of its member practices in upstate South Carolina (Montgomery & Riddle Eyecare and Donelson Eye Associates) under the brand of Clemson Eye, as VMAIL reported.

“We are excited about this new chapter in our practice’s journey,” Dr. Samuel E. Seltzer of Carolinas Centers for Sight said in the announcement. “Partnering with Eye Health America will allow us to expand our services in the Pee Dee Region while continuing to provide our patients with high-quality, compassionate eyecare.”

Mary Lou Parisi, President of Eye Health America in South Carolina, said the practice is “thrilled to welcome Drs. Seltzer, Greene and Vasuki and the Carolinas Centers for Sight team to our growing network of eyecare practices in the Southeast.” She added, “Their practice has a proven reputation known widely across the industry, and we look forward to building on their legacy.”

EHA was established in 2018 by LLR Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm, and it partners with best-in-class eyecare practices and ambulatory surgery centers to help them meet the growing patient need for eye health services, while delivering superior care to patients across the Southeast U.S., according to the announcement.

In January, EHA announced its first acquisition of 2019, bringing Donelson Eye Associates in Greenville, S.C., into its network. The acquisition marked EHA’s fifth strategic partnership in the Greenville area.
