CARLSBAD, Calif.—Gunnar Optiks, a leading computer eyewear designer and marketer, announced that Scott Sorensen has been named president of the brand. Sorensen will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, sales and marketing of Gunnar Optiks.

Sorensen’s professional career spans 22 years in senior executive roles in eyewear starting as a startup member of the Dragon Alliance brand in 1993. At Dragon, Sorensen was an integral part of the development of the brand and was responsible for the effective brand positioning and marketing strategies that built the company. In 2008, Sorensen left Dragon to join FGX International to take over the Quantum Optics division of premium brands. There he managed the Anarchy, Angel, Gargoyles, Body Glove and Rawlings brands.

"I'm excited to take this role at Gunnar,” said Sorensen. “Gunnar has an amazing product that addresses a real growing problem of digital eye strain in the world. My responsibilities will reside in the betterment and the growth of the Gunnar brand and, I am looking forward to working on its expansion and growing it to the next level. Sorensen will be taking over for Rob Jafek, interim CEO, who took the reins in November of 2014. “Rob's efforts, guidance and leadership drove impressive progress across the supply chain, servicing our customers and strengthening our business,” the company’s statement said, adding, “Rob made tough decisions to position Gunnar for growth and delivered meaningful profits in 2015.”
