Paul Stables.

PLAINVILLE, Mass.—Hilco Vision announced that it has acquired Jonathan Paul Eyewear, a pioneer of fitover sunwear and creator of the Jonathan Paul Fitover brand.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Paul Stables, founder and designer of Jonathan Paul Eyewear, will remain with the Austin, Texas-based company, according to Hilco. Stables, who founded the company in 1993, was its sole owner.

"We are extremely excited about the acquisition of such an innovative brand, recognized for its originality, functionality and design,” said Ross Brownlee, CEO of Hilco Vision, which is based here. “I am confident that together with designer Paul Stables, we can enable it to reach its full potential internationally as we leverage our increasingly global footprint."

Stables commented, "I am delighted to be part of Hilco Vision and continue to build this dynamic brand’s distribution internationally. The fitovers category is growing fast and we are well placed to lead that growth leveraging Hilco's distribution reach and consistently high quality standards.”

The transaction follows acquisitions by Hilco Vision in Germany last year and most recently in the Benelux region.
