Oliver Spandow
NORWALK, Conn.—IDOC, a privately held alliance of independent optometrists based here, announced that Oliver Spandow has been named CFO and executive vice president, effective immediately. “Oliver has been instrumental in leading IDOC to great success, developing strategic partnerships and programs that benefit our members and set us apart in the industry,” said Dave Brown, IDOC’s president and CEO. “We look forward to continuing to build on a strong start to 2018 and creating even more value for our members in the long run.”

Spandow’s additional responsibilities now include member services, sales, marketing and the local study group meetings offered each quarter in 75 locations across the U.S. He also oversaw the creation and launch of the latest new programs from IDOC, including the new Satisfaction Guarantee, which gives ODs the opportunity to become an IDOC member, risk free, and the group’s new IDOC Select Contact Lens Plan, which offers ODs enhanced choice and flexibility.

In other news, IDOC announced that Neil Gailmard, OD, remains the group’s chief optometric officer of IDOC, following the sale of his practice to Total Eye Care Partners, which VMAIL reported last week. “Dr. Gailmard has spent much of his career teaching, coaching and training independent optometrists on how to run a practice that succeeds and grows by making superior patient care the guiding force of their efforts. He will continue to be an active part of the management team at IDOC and will provide occasional consulting advice to members,” IDOC said in a statement.
