ST. PAUL, Minn.—Bill West has been appointed chief strategic officer/chief operations officer for The International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology Inc. (IJCAHPO), according to an announcement from the organization. West will focus on identifying new educational and certification opportunities to enhance the professional development of Allied Ophthalmic Personnel (AOP). IJCAHPO’s mission is to promote global eye health and prevent blindness through training program accreditation, education and the certification of Allied Ophthalmic Personnel (AOP).  West said, “Advances in technologies in both ophthalmology and education are moving at a rapid pace, forcing AOP to acquire this new knowledge and skills quickly. IJCAHPO’s mission is to ensure that they can excel in the profession by having the resources to effectively work with patients and provide quality eyecare.”

With almost 25 years in the assessment industry, West most recently served as vice president of Professional Business Development for Pearson VUE, the global leader in computer- based testing. He was responsible for overseeing new markets and business development, delivery of quality customer services and sales, and management of national and global assessment programs. Being actively involved in the computer-based testing industry, West served on the boards of directors for the Association of Test Publishers and the Certification Network Group, multiple committees for the Institute of Credentialing Excellence, and as chair of the Innovations in Testing conference.
