The license gives the U.K.-based eyewear company the exclusive worldwide rights to design, manufacture and distribute ophthalmic, sunglass and snow goggle collections under the O’Neill name. “Our collaboration with O’Neill is the culmination of many years of alignment between the two companies,” said Robin Totterman, CEO of Inspecs. “We are very excited to work with such an iconic brand; from being the very first surf brand, to the strong water and snow action lifestyle name it is today.” Started in 1952 in Northern California, O’Neill was founded by Jack O’Neill who pioneered the world’s first neoprene wetsuit. “We are very excited about the launch of O’Neill Eyewear and are pleased to be working with a partner like Inspecs who brings an enormous amount of experience in both innovation and lifestyle trends to the table,” added Paddy Muldoon, O’Neill’s general manager for global product. The first collections for both men and women, inspired by O’Neill’s California heritage, will be launched at Vision Expo East this month and will be available at the Inspecs USA booth.
