NORWALK, Conn.—International Vision Expo invites industry members and friends to participate in the Optometry School Video Challenge, a new contest running student-made videos depicting experiences at International Vision Expo. The contest will take place online from Oct. 29 to Nov. 9.

After being challenged to record perspectives of the exhibit hall, continuing education, city sights and parties, students from 21 optometry schools have submitted footage of their Expo experience which has been professionally edited in preparation for voting. The videos will be featured on Facebook as well as on the contest website where voters will have two weeks to make their selections. Participants must be logged into a Facebook account to vote, and are encouraged to share the contest link with colleagues, alumni, classmates, family and friends.

“We’ve seen a tremendous amount of energy displayed by optometry students throughout the video challenge,” said Tom Loughran, vice president of Reed Exhibitions, which co-sponsors the expo. “The project provided a new way to engage the next generation of eyecare professionals, and now they have the opportunity to share their unique experiences and perspectives about our industry and International Vision Expo with others.”

First, second and third place winners will be awarded with a donation to their school for either $2,500, $1,000 or $500, respectively. The first place winner will also receive an exclusive off-site party hosted by International Vision Expo, and the second place winner will be awarded a pizza party. All three winners will win a “swag bag.” The top three videos will be announced on or before Nov. 16.
