DENVILLE, N.J—Katena Products—a provider of precision ophthalmic instruments, biologics and devices—purchased Eagle Vision for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition was completed on Sept. 30.

Founded by Jerre Freeman, MD, Eagle Vision has become a market leader in the punctal plug category. These plugs, along with other ancillary devices are primarily used in the treatment of dry eye syndrome, by both optometrists and ophthalmologists.

“The acquisition of the Eagle Vision product line is the second important addition to Katena’s product portfolio in 2016, as we continue to build out our product offering in the ophthalmic and optometric call points,” said Bill Friedberg, CEO Katena Products. “We look forward to continuing to be of greater clinical value to our customers, with both organic growth of our existing product lines and through additional acquisitions.”

A spokesperson for Katena told VMail that Dr. Freeman and other executives from Eagle Vision will not be continuing with the company.
