Latest News Luxottica Appoints New Board, Co-CEO Developments Proceed With Intel and With Glass By Staff Monday, April 27, 2015 12:27 AM MILAN—At its general meeting of stockholders last Friday, Luxottica Group (NYSE: LUX) officially named its new board members for a 3-year term and approved its statutory financial statements for the fiscal year 2014. Senior executives at the meeting also reinforced the company’s developing involvement in the wearable technology arena, including a new version of Google Glass and the first product from its previously announced R&D partnership with Intel.Regarding the wearables, Massimo Vian, co-CEO, citing the “huge” opportunities for eyewear in the wearables field, said that the company is expecting the first product to emerge from the Luxottica partnership with Intel to be ready in February or March of 2016, a timing that would allow the product to be part of the marketing around the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro next year. In addition, he confirmed that Luxottica is currently working on version two of Glass with Google, a Luxottica spokesperson confirmed to VMail.The company had previously announced a partnership with Google in March 2014, as reported and a multi-year partnership with Intel last December. At the shareholders’ meeting, Luxottica’s new board of directors was named, composed of 14 members elected for a 3-year term. They include Leonardo Del Vecchio, chairman of the board of directors, Luigi Francavilla, Adil Mehboob-Khan, Massimo Vian, Luigi Feola, Elisabetta Magistretti, Mario Notari, Maria Pierdicchi, Karl Heinz Salzburger, Luciano Santel, Cristina Scocchia, Sandro Veronesi, Andrea Zappia. The appointments, the company said, were all taken from the majority list presented by Delfin S.à r.l., and Marina Brogi taken from the minority list presented by a group of institutional investors. At the conclusion of the general meeting, the board met to appoint Francavilla, a long-time Luxottica executive, as deputy chairman of the company and formally approved two co-CEOs: Adil Mehboob-Khan as CEO for Markets and Massimo Vian as CEO for Product and Operations.The new board members replace nine previous board members, which had included former Luxottica executives Andrea Guerra and Enrico Cavatorta, who left the company in the fall of 2014, as previously reported, and also Roger Abrvanel and Claudio Del Vecchio.
