ELKINS PARK, Penn—Maria L. Parisi, OD, FAAO, has been named the associate dean for the Practice of Optometric Medicine at Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO).

Parisi brings more than 25 years of experience at Salus/PCO to her new position. She has also served as director of optometry externships since 2008, a role which she will maintain through the summer in addition to her new responsibilities as associate dean.

Additionally, Parisi has served on numerous Salus University committees and currently holds the positions of vice president of the faculty organization, chair of the judicial committee, and is a member of the committee on academic promotions, steering committee for the strategic planning committee and the executive Hot Team. She also has extensive teaching experience both internationally and in the U.S. in pediatric optometry.

Parisi received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt. and her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she also completed her residency in primary care optometry and received certification in concentrated ocular therapy.
