Latest News MESVision’s Shappet to Serve as Interim NAVCP Chair After VSP Global President/CEO McGrann Steps Down By Staff Monday, October 12, 2015 12:21 AM Aspasia Shappet. CHICAGO—The National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP) has named MESVision CEO Aspasia Shappet chairwoman after the board’s vote of confidence at its annual strategic planning meeting held here last month. She succeeds Jim McGrann, who stepped down as a result of the increased demands of his recent appointment to president and CEO of VSP Global, effective Oct. 1, 2015. Shappet previously served as NAVCP chairwoman from May 2013 to May 2015. She will lead the association until a new chair is elected in May 2016 at the annual summit in Nashville, Tenn. McGrann’s seat on the NAVCP board of directors will be assumed by Kate Renwick-Espinosa, former chief marketing officer of VSP Global who was named president of VSP Vision Care after McGrann’s promotion from that position. NAVCP executive director Julian Roberts said, “Great leaders place the best interests of the many above those of the individual, so it comes as no surprise that VSP Global has recognized Jim’s excellence and entrusted him to competently guide their company for many years to come. I’m grateful for his commitment, leadership and support of NAVCP and look forward to working with Kate as part of an enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with VSP Vision Care. Aspasia’s eager willingness to resume her role as chairwoman after recently fulfilling a two-year term is a testament to her dedication not only to this organization, but the vision industry as a whole. I’m grateful for her unselfish investment to ensure a seamless transition at the highest level of the association.”
