NEW YORK—Modo has announced that on April 19, 2018, Rebecca Giefer, COO was made a partner in the company. Giefer’s career at Modo began 14 years ago as a temporary customer service liaison, shortly after her university graduation. Giefer has risen through the company, serving in various customer service, sales and operations roles. In 2011, she was promoted to vice president of operations where she led her high performing team in adopting new technologies and improving the company’s overall operational efficiencies. In 2014, she was promoted to COO and two years later was honored as one of Vision Monday’s Most Influential Women in Optical in the Executive Suite category.

"Rebecca is one of the greatest success stories at Modo that makes me so proud of our company. I still remember the interview 14 years ago like it was yesterday; after just a few minutes I asked her when she could start,” said Alessandro Lanaro, CEO, Modo.

He continued, “I was sure that Rebecca was going to be a star. Throughout the years, I have joked that I better hold on tight to my chair, and sure enough she became COO. Rebecca is hard-working and a straight shooter with the most amazing work ethic I've ever seen. She is a great inspiration to our entire team and she has one of the greatest gifts that a leader can have: she knows how to hire the right people. I am so excited to make Rebecca a Partner at MODO. She deserves it, and I am fortunate to have crossed her path 14 years ago."

Giefer added, “My growth at Modo is a story of starting at entry level and growing, it’s a story of perseverance amidst change, it’s a story of focus, and a story of being part of a special team. Alessandro is an inspiring leader and entrepreneur, and he has a passion for the business that’s contagious to those around him. I appreciate his mentorship and am committed to continuing the work of building Modo with him and the Modo team.”

Originally from Minnesota, Giefer moved to New York where she attended New York University and also played on their varsity soccer team. An avid runner, she has completed numerous marathons, including two Sultan Marathons in the Moroccan desert. Currently, Rebecca lives in Brooklyn with her husband David and son Owen.
