BETHESDA, Md.—The National Eye Institute (NEI) is coordinating activities for Healthy Vision Month. The month long health observance that kicks off every year in May is meant to educate Americans about the steps they can take to protect their vision and keep their eyes healthy.

The National Eye Institute encourages ECPs and everyone to take part in this initiative by participating in a variety of events especially the Healthy Vision Month Thunderclap. Thunderclap is a social media tool that allows many people and organizations to share the same message at the same time across their social media platforms. Users can select whether they would like to share via Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr and then at 12:00 p.m. on May 1, 2015, the Healthy Vision Month message will automatically get sent out.

Other ways to get involved include sharing the Healthy Vision Month posts, infographics or videos to social media, using the hashtag #HVM2015 or even hosting a community event using any of these resources.
