NEW YORK—Two experienced eyewear execs, Debra Forstenzer and Hannah Sarbin, have developed and launched a new company called Edition Eyes. The business is representing a select portfolio of European and Asian brands seeking distribution in the U.S. via curated collections and “storytelling” merchandising support. Stated Sarbin, “We want to deliver something unique and new as a way of creating distinction for independent customers. We’re not simply securing new brands but are bringing emerging design and technology to the stores and working with these creators to ‘bundle’ together themes and ideas—focusing on the stories, so powerful in merchandising today.”

Added Forstenzer, “We see ourselves as a new type of full-service agency, working with unique and authentic eyewear collections, and a different approach. We are putting together a portfolio of curated collections of the most authentic, most innovative and most on trend luxury eyewear in the market.”

Edition Eyes’ featured collections currently include Super by Retrosuperfuture, LPLR Eyewear and Epos.

Edition Eyes co-founders Forstenzer and Sarbin bring a unique perspective. Each has worked with larger eyewear firms as well as with smaller boutique businesses in both design, sales, business development and merchandising roles. They are experienced in identifying business opportunities as well as emerging trends.

Prior to co-founding Edition Eyes, Sarbin served as vice president of marketing and new business development for Marchon Eyewear. She also served as vice president of brand management and marketing for Altair Eyewear’s portfolio of brands. Earlier, she led the design and product developing for all eyewear brands at ClearVision Optical as director of product and merchandising.

Most recently a consultant, Forstenzer has been involved in overseeing the development and design of eyewear, jewelry, watches and travel accessories brands. She has worked with such brands as DKNY, Movado, Cole Haan, Lantis Eyewear, Joseph Abboud and others. In 2015, she completed Stanford University’s Innovation Masters Series—Design Thinking and the Art of Innovation.

Edition Eyes will showcase their collections and approach at Vision Expo East. Other details are posted on the company’s new website.
