(TSX: BCI), a leader in the Canadian optical business with 379 stores across Canada, reported this week that its fourth-quarter revenue totaled $67.5 million and adjusted EBITDA (or cash flow) reached $12.5 million, representing increases of 23.9 percent and 28.3 percent, respectively, compared with the year-ago period. The revenue increase was mainly due to the net addition of 159 stores in the last 12 months as well as same-store sales growth of 2.8 percent, New Look Vision said in its announcement.Adjusted net earnings attributed to shareholders increased by $700,000 to $7.3 million in the fourth quarter, which ended Dec. 30, 2017, according to the announcement.For fiscal 2017, New Look Vision reported that revenue and adjusted EBITDA reached a record of $229.2 million and $42.1 million, respectively, and represented increases of 15.4 percent and 19.1 percent, respectively, over fiscal 2016. The company’s adjusted net earnings attributed to shareholders were $25.4 million, or $3.0 million above last year.“With the Q4 results, the 2017 year ended on a very strong note for the group,” New Look Vision president and chief executive officer Antoine Amiel said in a statement. “This and other positive operating and financial factors throughout the year as a whole are concrete evidence of the success of our strategic growth plan in recent years, both organically and by acquisition, as well as our ability to generate synergies across our expanding network.”New Look Vision significantly increased its size in 2017 with the acquisition of 147-location Iris Le Group Visuel (1990), Inc., as VMAIL reported. Amiel also noted the company completed the Iris acquisition in the fourth quarter, which gives New Look Vision “a strong optometric-based platform to build from in this sector of the consolidating Canadian retail optical industry.” He added, “We look forward to working with their management team, partners and franchisees in the coming years.”New Look Vision also reported that it has named Tania M. Clarke as senior vice president and chief financial officer, a move that occurred in the first quarter of 2018.
