FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J.—Challenges facing new optometrists will be the focus of a special edition of “The Power Hour,” which will be held on Friday this week, Oct. 4, in a show broadcast live from Las Vegas during International Vision Expo West.

The weekly online radio talk show hosted by Gary Gerber, OD, founder of The Power Practice a practice management company, will adjust its normal Wednesday schedule to broadcast from the MedSci Theater inside the exhibit hall at the Sands Convention Center at 5:00 p.m. PT.

Gerber said, “This will be a very special episode. There will be free beer and wine for those in our live listening audience. Our topic will be the challenges and opportunities for new ODs. We'll touch on things like too many schools, too many docs, not enough good quality career choices, the Internet, etc. Since the show is in the exhibit hall, we're also expecting some industry executives to drop in and join the show.”

“The Power Hour” radio shows are sponsored by Essilor of America, VSP Global, Optovue and Think About Your Eyes. The show, which can be heard online or by phone every Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. E.T., is a live discussion vehicle for current practice-building events in optometry, political viewpoints and clinical topics.

Listeners can dial in to “The Power Hour” from any phone at (646) 716-8746 or can listen in from any computer or smart phone. The Power Hour sessions, which launched in 2012, are archived on The Power Practice site. Users can also click to listen to past shows or download segments on iTunes.
