LAS VEGAS—From seeing fashion on the floor and in The Suites to learning about the latest techniques in the classroom, Vision Expo West attendees are getting many insights into the latest in eyewear trends and patient care.

“Exhibitors have reported strong buying activity in the exhibit hall, with high levels of traffic and a sense of vibrancy,” said Ashley Mills, The Vision Council vice president of trade shows and meetings. “With the new pop-up talks, Visionaries toasts, and the addition of the lounges, the show floor has become a hub for learning, buying and networking.”

With opportunities to grasp all aspects of eyewear designs and technology through courses like “The HOW? behind the WOW! at retail,” “Must Have Eyewear Fashion Trends for 2017,” “THE BIG PICTURE - Eyewear Challenges and Solutions in the Year 2020,” and “Which Frame Material is Right for My Patient,” Expo has found a strong following of the fashion-focused, especially students and young professionals.

“We’re thrilled to see an increase in attendance from the industry’s young professionals and students at this year’s Vision Expo West,” said Tom Loughran, Reed Exhibitions industry vice president. “We’ve added a variety of education and networking events focused on engaging Millennials and the next generation of rising stars within the industry. The initial feedback we’ve received indicates that the topics and speakers have been incredibly well received, and we’re hoping to keep this trend in motion for future Vision Expos.”

New this year, experts from the Young Professionals Club Advisory Group have been holding pop-up talks throughout the show floor addressing topics from how to open a practice cold to how to stand out from the crowd. Attendees are taking advantage of these informal settings to grab a drink and participate in quick, casual talks with topic experts, show organizers said.
