ALEXANDRIA, Virgina—Opticon @ Vision Expo and the National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS) have announced that they are collaborating to debut the NFOS College Bowl at Vision Expo East this year. The NFOS College Bowl, sponsored by Hoya Vision Care, will be a fast-paced quiz competition that tests 12 students from NFOS-member opticianry schools on their optical knowledge. The winning student will receive a monetary prize ad well as the NFOS College Bowl trophy for their college. Attendees are also encourage to watch the NFOS College Bowl and root for their favorite school, as well as network with the next generation of optical professionals.

The NFOS College Bowl is slated to take place in the Javits Center on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be a cocktail reception for the competition, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Jim Morris, American Board of Opticianry & National Contact Lens Examiners (ABO-NCLE) executive director, said, “We’re looking forward to bringing all generations of the optical industry together for the NFOS College Bowl. The event will present an exciting, interactive opportunity for students to bond with each other as well as network with experienced veterans.”
