Latest News Nominations Open for the 2017 Women In Optometry Theia Awards By Staff Wednesday, June 28, 2017 12:18 AM NEW YORK—Nominations are now open for Women In Optometry’s second annual Theia Awards of Excellence to honor women ODs in the following three categories—Leadership, Mentoring and Innovation. The Theia Awards of Excellence are named for Theia, the Greek goddess of vision or sight. Winners are determined by the Women In Optometry advisory board and the three awards will be presented in October at the American Academy of Optometry meeting in Chicago.“It’s a great evening where we have a chance to honor the contributions to the profession by these great women,” said April Jasper, OD, FAAO, professional co-editor of Women In Optometry. “Last year, we received more than 150 nominations, which showed us how enthusiastic people were for a chance to recognize those who inspired them,” said Katie Gilbert-Spear, OD, MPH, also a professional co-editor Women In Optometry.
