ISELIN, N.J. and SPARTA, N.J.— Omni Ophthalmic Management Consultants  (Omni), a portfolio company of NMS Capital (NMS), has announced a strategic partnership with Eye Care Northwest, P.A., a market-leading provider of medical-surgical eyecare services in northwest New Jersey. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Headquartered in Sparta, Eye Care Northwest has remained at the forefront of the eyecare field for more than 20 years and currently employs one board-certified ophthalmologist and one optometrist. The practice offers comprehensive vision care services to nearly 4,000 patients annually, according to the announcement.

“Eye Care Northwest is a great addition to our portfolio as it allows us to extend our reach further north and west in our current footprint,” Omni president and chief operating officer Eric Williams said in the announcement. “Their dedication and commitment to the community combined with their goal of ensuring every patient’s visit to the practice is a 5-star experience, mirrored the patient-centric focus we have at Omni.

Dr. Jeffrey Liegner, Eye Care Northwest’s owner and surgeon, added, “We are excited to continue our commitment to high quality care and services in partnership with Omni and look forward to leveraging an expanded list of providers to offer the highest level of professional eye services to our patients and to our local optometric partners.”

In April 2019, Omni announced it had established a “strategic partnership” with Ludwick Eye Center, a market-leading regional provider of medical-surgical eyecare services with three locations in Pennsylvania and Maryland, as VMAIL reported.

Omni, an optometric referral practice providing a full range of specialty services for the advanced treatment of eye diseases, by design, offers no primary care optometric services, but promotes a partnership between optometry and ophthalmology to deliver exceptional vision care, the announcement noted. It was founded in 1998 and now provides eyecare services through a network of 25 offices, including several that operate ophthalmology-focused ambulatory surgery centers, throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. Omni provides nearly 300,000 encounters annually.

Luis Gonzalez, a partner at the investment firm NMS, added, “The Eye Care Northwest partnership continues to expand our footprint in New Jersey. This transaction represents Omni’s sixth affiliation and solidifies our presence as one of the largest ophthalmology groups in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with over 70 providers across 25 practice locations, including four ambulatory surgery centers.

NMS Capital is a New York headquartered private investment firm specializing in strategic equity investments and leveraged buyouts of lower middle market companies. The firm was formed through the spin-out of a group of portfolio companies from the Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division.
