PARIS—Silmo celebrated the 2017 Silmo d’Or winners along with its 50th anniversary during an extravagant evening at the Grand Palais on Saturday, Oct.7.

During the start of the evening, Amelie Morel, president of Silmo welcomed attendees to the award ceremony and also honored Philippe Lafont, former president of Silmo, who passed away earlier this year.

Winners from that night included Essilor with Varilux X in the Vision category along Novacel with BINOVA IFLEX multifocale sclérale who tied in the same category. Marchon took the award in the optic frame trend category with the Chloe, Palma CE 2134 frame and Blackfin took home the jury special prize with Arc. The 24th Silmo d'Or awards panel of judges for the jury was led by the designers Livia Stoianova and Yassen Samouilov of On Aura Tout Vu.

Attendees were treated to many sights that night including ethereal looking performers walking the floors of the Grand Palais on stilts as well as a giant birthday cake being rolled out to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Silmo show.
