NEW YORK—The Optical Women’s Association (OWA) has announced the selection of Sherrie Rogerson as recipient of the 2014 Pleiades Award, a recognition which spotlights an individual who has shown a commitment to the mission of the OWA each year. The award will be presented at the OWA’s annual event taking place at the Marchon Showroom here on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Rogerson, senior executive of corporate accounts at REM Eyewear, draws on 25 years in the optical industry and a background in merchandising. She has been active in the OWA since 2004, having served as OWA president, on the board as chair and co-chair of various committees and helping to establish the Professional Development Fund. She is an ABO speaker and has presented retail training programs over the course of the past four years.

In 2003, Rogerson was selected as one of Vision Monday’s “Most Influential Women in Optical.”

“Sherrie has shown exceptional support and dedication to the women of the optical industry through her passion, involvement and commitment to the OWA. I couldn’t imagine a more deserving recipient of the Pleiades Award,” said Christie Walker, OWA president.

Rogerson said, “Through the OWA, I have been fortunate to meet and interact with so many fabulous people and hopefully have passed on some wisdom along the way through the various programs and networking opportunities. One thing I have learned and will always keep with me is that there is power in numbers and the power of these women is inspiring to all. Being on the board of the OWA has been the highlight of my career.”
