KANSAS CITY, Mo.—OWL: Advancing Diversity in Leadership announced that it will host its annual OWL Signature Event and a Networking Program at the 2017 ASCRS/ASOA Symposium and Congress, a joint meeting of the American Academy of Cataract & Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators held May 5 to 9, 2017 in Los Angeles.

In addition, the organization will host an OWL Connect Event at the 2017 Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO) Conference held in Baltimore May 7 to 11.

The Signature Event will be take place May 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Luxe City Center Hotel. The evening will focus on, “Lessons in Leadership: A Panel Discussion on Overcoming Obstacles and the Value of Self Discovery.” The panel, moderated by Jane Rady, of Johnson & Johnson Vision, will also feature Eric Donnenfeld of Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island, Ashley McEvoy of Johnson & Johnson Vision, and Tracy Valorie of Bausch + Lomb.

The Networking Program at ASCRS/ASOA is an interest group event which will focus on “Difficult Conversations: Finding Your Voice with Effective Communication Strategies,” and is sponsored by Alcon. The event takes place on May 6, from 4 to 5:30 pm at the Luxe City Center Hotel.

The panel will feature moderator, Cynthia Matossian of Matossian Eye Associates, Wayne Caulder of Carl Zeiss Meditec and Aziz Mottiwala of Allergan.

The OWL Connect at ARVO, will be held May 9, from 7:30 to 8:30 am at the Hilton Baltimore in the Tubman A Room. Attendees are urged to meet engage and discuss, “Shattering the Mold: Overcoming & Understanding Personal Diversity.”
