PHOENIX—American Vision Partners, a leading national eyecare organization and active consolidator, has announced a partnership between one of its affiliates, Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, and Miles Eye Center. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. “We are looking forward to strengthening our presence in the White Mountain communities,” American Vision Partners president and chief executive officer Kyle A. Bohannon said in an announcement earlier this week. "As the most respected ophthalmology group in the country, we're committed to growing American Vision Partners in a thoughtful way that allows us to partner with other successful eyecare practices to best serve our patients. We are currently in discussions with other eyecare centers throughout Arizona and other regions," Bohannon added.

American Vision Partners, which is under the umbrella of H.I.G. Capital, was founded in April 2017 with the affiliation of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center and Southwestern Eye Center, and today operates more than 40 eyecare centers in Arizona and New Mexico, including 23 ambulatory surgical centers, as VMAIL reported. H.I.G. Capital is a global private equity investment firm with more than $25 billion of equity capital under management.

The new American Vision partnership with Miles Eye Center will improve the quality of eyecare for patients in Show Low and Lakeside, Ariz.—where Miles Eye Center has its two offices—by bringing more vision care services to the community than available previously, the announcement noted. The offices will operate under the name of Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center. Additionally, patients will have access to advanced cataract technology, retina diagnosis and surgical care, cornea, glaucoma and other ophthalmic subspecialties.

"This partnership presents an opportunity to bring together the ophthalmology leaders in the White Mountains and to provide our community with best-in-class eyecare," Dr. William Miles of Miles Eye Center said. Dr. Joshua Lewis and Dr. Joseph Brewer, who currently practice at Miles Eye Center, will continue to provide care at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center.

Dr. John Knippers, a Board Certified eye physician and surgeon with a history of professional excellence and a specialization in cataract and glaucoma surgery, joins the Show Low team of doctors. Additionally, Jack Sipperley, MD, and Mahmood El Gasim, MD, will provide retina and vitreous retina services, according to the announcement.
