TAMPA, Fla.—Premier Eye Care, a leader in providing innovative and affordable solutions for managed medical and routine eyecare, has named Jeff Nowak as chief solutions officer. Nowak is an experienced leader in health care operations, process improvement and technology, according to a Premier Eye Care statement.

Premier provides optometric, ophthalmologic and full administrative services to health plans and their members. Health plan providers—such as Humana, WellCare and CarePlus, among others—contract with Premier to manage delivery of services, including authorizations, network management, benefit design, member services, appeals, claims payment and other services, according to the Premier website.

In his new role, Nowak will focus on addressing short- and long-term business challenges and opportunities with technology solutions, according to the statement. He joins the managed care company with more than 25 years of experience, including high-level operational roles at MedHOK Inc., Elsevier and WellCare Health Plans. In addition, Nowak has experience in leading teams that use innovation and process improvement to help meet the evolving needs of customers, according to the statement.

"At Premier, we continuously reinvent the paradigm of how best-practice business is done by harmonizing technology, people and innovative solutions to meet the ever changing needs of our nuanced and complex business environment,” Lorna Taylor, president and chief executive officer, said in the statement. “Jeff shares our vision, and his skills and experience are a great fit for us."

Premier noted that its “exceptional performance” in the area of operations is reflected by “the recent announcement that the company has received a perfect score” on its Re-Certification for Utilization Management and Credentialing from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
