CHICAGO— In response to a significant increase in diabetic eye disease cases in the U.S., Prevent Blindness America (PBA) will be hosting a free webinar on Oct. 24 titled “Live Right, Save Sight: Tools to Help Prevent Diabetic Eye Disease.” The webinar will serve as a component of the “Live Right, Save Sight!” initiative, designed to provide free information on diabetes to the public.

According to an annual report from PBA and the National Eye Institute (NEI), over 7.6 million Americans have diabetic retinopathy, an 89 percent increase since 2002. As part of the “Live Right, Save Sight” campaign, as well as in preparation for Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month in November, the webinar will highlight the ways in which a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of vision loss from diabetes.

Also included will be tips and tools for practitioners on how to discuss diabetic eye disease with patients and clients, particularly through use of the PBA Diabetic Eye Disease Educator Program.
