ALPHARETTA, Ga.— QSpex Technologies, a maker of in-office spectacle lens manufacturing systems based here, announced that its board has appointed Brett Craig, a board member and advisor, as president and CEO. Additionally, Evan Melrose, MD, has been appointed chairman.

Craig comes to QSpex with more than 15 years of eyecare experience. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of PixelOptics, a venture-backed electronic eyeglass company. Prior to PixelOptics, Craig was the president and COO of Transitions Optical. During his tenure at Transitions, he also held positions as general manager and managing director for Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

QSpex also announced that it is has closed $15 million in Series E financing. The Series E financing round was co-led by investors Spindletop Capital and Essex Woodlands Health Ventures and will fund the launch of two second generation products, the Nano Lab and Mini Lab.
