DAEGU, Korea—Optical manufacturer and retailer Seesun Korea has developed a Bluetooth sunglass with bone conduction technology. The glasses, known as the Seesun B:CON-10, have been certified as meeting ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. According to Seesun, the sunglasses offer outstanding sound quality, and the rotational bone conduction technology lets the wearer enjoy music and talk on the phone without blocking out external sound. “The bone conduction unit rotates to perfectly fit different users and transmits clear sound by adhering close to your skin. The open-ear solution allows you to be aware of your surroundings and prevents hearing damage because it does not directly stimulate your ear,” Seesun said.

Bone conduction is the transmission of sound to the inner ear through the bones of the skull. This can be used with individuals with normal or impaired hearing. Bone conduction is one reason why a person's voice sounds different to them when it is recorded and played back. Because the skull conducts lower frequencies better than air, people perceive their own voices to be lower and fuller than others do, and a recording of one's own voice frequently sounds higher than one expects it to sound.

The B:CON-10 can be connected to a device which has a Bluetooth module, such as a mobile phone, tablet PC, laptop or TV. Its transmission range is up to 10 meters. Charging time is up to two hours, and the calling and playing time up to five hours. Each pair comes with a case, cleaning cloth and USB 5-pin charging cable.

The glasses are available in shiny black, matte black and matte white frame fronts with the temples in matte black, white or navy blue, while the BCT (bone conduction technology) silicon part comes in black or white. The color choices for the sunglass lenses are smog, gold or blue, and blue light-blocking lenses for the prescription lenses.

To help fund the launch of the B:CON-10, Seesun has launched an Indiegogo campaign. The company plans to exhibit the glasses next spring at International Vision Expo which will kick off its U.S. launch.

In addition to 25 Seesun optical shops in Korea, the brand is distributed at over 1,200 retail stores across the country. Currently, its major markets are Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Western Europe and the U.S.
