William E. Marfuggi, Jr.

PEAPACK, N.J.—William E. Marfuggi, Jr., co-founder and president of Eagle Eyewear Inc./Victory Optical Collection, Whitehouse, N.J., died Jan. 23, 2016 at home. He was 65 years old. Marfuggi was a graduate of Millburn High School, and attended Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colo., prior to joining Victory Optical, a company founded by his grandfather Vincent J. Salierno.

In recent years, Marfuggi, the CEO of Eagle Eyewear and its flagship brand, Victory Optical, proudly continued the work of his father and grandfather by reintroducing the styles their family business had originally become known for. A greater point of pride was that he was able to go to work alongside his daughter Cristina, making his work a true family business.

He was a member of the Essex Hunt Club, the Mendham Valley Gun Club and had been a longtime member of the Somerset Hills Country Club.

He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years Sheila (Doherty) Marfuggi; his children William (and his fiancé Makena Coscarelli), and Cristina; his brother V. James Marfuggi and his wife Karen; his sister Victoria Wagner and her husband Owen; his mother Rose Salierno Marfuggi; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at St. Bridget's Church, Main St. Peapack, N.J. at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vincent Salierno Scholarship Fund c/o American Optometric Foundation, 2909 Fairgreen Street, Orlando, Fla. 32803.
