ORLANDO, Fla.—The American Optometric Foundation (AOF), in partnership with the Allergan Foundation has announced the 2015 recipient of the Allergan Research Grant.

The grant, which is awarded to an optometrist and/or vision scientist who is an academy member and currently undertaking research in the area of glaucoma or anterior segment, was awarded to Nicole Carnt, PhD, BOptom, FAAO. Carnt is a two-time AOF William C. Ezell Fellow as well as a research fellow at the Save Sight Institute, University of Sydney. She’s being awarded a $60,000 grant for her project “An Investigation of the Host Immune Reaction in Response to Corneal Infection.”

“The American Optometric Foundation is pleased to partner with the Allergan Foundation to recognize individuals whose work will contribute to the future of optometric care,” said AOF president David Kirschen, OD, PhD, FAAO. “We congratulate Dr. Carnt on her award and on her cutting edge research that will eventually improve our patients’ eye health.”

Carnt will be honored during the annual AOF celebration luncheon during the Academy 2016 in Anaheim, Calif.
