The Silmo Organization to Launch Silmo Istanbul


PARIS–Following the first edition of Istanbul Optik Fuari (ISOF) last December, the Silmo organization has rebranded the trade show Silmo Istanbul with the goal of becoming the flagship Eurasian trade fair, Silmo organizers said.

Silmo Istanbul is scheduled to take place on Dec. 11-14, 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey. Silmo organizers describe Istanbul as “the economic, artistic and cultural capital of Turkey and bridge between Europe and Asia.” The target audience of this new trade fair will extend from the countries bordering Turkey in the near and Middle East as far as East Africa.

In 2013, the first ISOF show, held from Dec. 26-29 at the Istanbul Trade Center in 10,000 square meters of exhibition area, featured 92 exhibitors, 400 brands, and 12,850 visitors. According to Silmo, with annual growth of around 10 percent, the optics and eyewear market in Turkey is “exhibiting a dynamism and potential that promises fantastic development opportunities for companies within the sector.”
