Transitions Optical Joins Think About Your Eyes Public Awareness Initiative

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Think About Your Eyes, a public eye health initiative sponsored by a nonprofit organization under The Vision Council, announced Transitions Optical as the latest industry partner to join the national campaign.

Transitions Optical joins other vision community leaders and eyecare providers as supporters of the Think About Your Eyes campaign to educate the public about the importance of vision health and the benefits of getting an annual comprehensive eye exam. As VM reported in July, these include a wide range of companies and organizations.

“Think About Your Eyes is just what the vision community needs to inform the public about the significance of annual, comprehensive eye exams and the impact they can have on overall health and disease prevention,” said Brian Hauser, general manager, U.S. and Canada. “We believe deeply in the cause and the positive influence it brings to the eyecare community and are encouraged by the public’s response to date.”

According to The Vision Council, “The national launch of the Think About Your Eyes campaign has already seen overwhelming results as it seeks to motivate public behavior for eye health,” with attracting more than 690,282 total visitors to date, 638,356 of which are unique. “The TAYE team expects the number to grow to more than 700,000 visits by Monday, or close to it,” the organization said.

In addition to the recent sign-on by Transitions, The Vision Council “is also in discussions with more than a dozen other companies about joining.”

“We’ve seen an extraordinary amount of public and vision community interest in the Think About Your Eyes initiative, with thousands of website visitors each day and more than 5,000 eyecare providers already signed on as supporters of the campaign,” said Ed Greene, CEO of The Vision Council. “Now that we’ve launched nationally, we want to encourage eyecare providers who haven’t enrolled to join the initiative and help patients in their areas find them on the Think About Your Eyes doctor locator.”

Think About Your Eyes is estimated to reach at least 120 million consumers with strong educational and motivational messages promoting eye health, kids’ vision, and how regular eye exams promote better overall health. The advertising drives the public to to find a local Think About Your Eyes member doctor and schedule an eye exam.
