Latest News Vision Expo East Attracts Nearly 15,500 Attendees, Show Organizers Say By Staff Wednesday, March 27, 2013 12:24 AM NEW YORK—International Vision Expo East 2013 drew more than 575 exhibitors unveiled some 5,000 brands, lines and products and attracted nearly 15,500 attendees from more than 90 countries, according to preliminary numbers from show organizers. International Vision Expo & Conference will conduct a detailed, third-party audit of attendance at International Vision Expo East and verified figures will be available in April. The Continuing Education program delivered 350 hours of cutting-edge education and featured several new educational tracks designed to keep eyecare providers at the forefront of eyecare, health care and business trends. International Vision Expo & Conference is co-owned and produced by Reed Exhibitions and The Vision Council. “International Vision Expo East continues to be the best place to learn about the latest trends and discover the largest selection of products in our industry, whether its best practices in business, high-fashion eyewear and accessories straight from the runway, or innovative technologies and medical products designed to take your business and practice to the next level,” said Tom Loughran, group vice president for Reed Exhibitions. “There’s no other place in the Americas where you can meet under one roof with thousands of vision industry colleagues, take education, and shop this many products at show-exclusive pricing.” With more exhibitor participation than ever before, International Vision Expo East expanded its show floor to include four new specialty areas: Made in America, Boutiques on Main, an International Pavilion and Vision Monday’s Eye2 Zone. The Pavilions featured exclusive collections and technologies from domestic and international designers. More than 600 show specials—an all-time high—were also offered by exhibitors in each of Vision Expo’s seven Pavilions, which allowed attendees to benefit from discounts, efficiency in planning their purchases, education on new products and in-booth demos. A record number of groups met at International Vision Expo East this year to host meetings, networking events and conduct business with current and future customers. During the show, five new professional groups joined Vision Expo’s Partner Program, bringing the total number of affiliate partners to 46. Vision Expo’s ground-breaking Optometry (OD) Student Program also grew to include nearly 400 OD students from each of the schools in the US, Puerto Rico and Canada. Also of note, Vision Expo’s OPTImum Program, which comprises the industry’s leading retail buyers, ophthalmic professionals, lab owners, directors and senior level decision makers, now includes nearly 1,100 participants, representing a 32 percent increase from 2012. International Vision Expo East will return to the Javits Center in New York City Thursday, March 27 through Sunday, March 30, 2014.
