NEW YORK—If you’re in the market for the latest smartglasses, a ski goggle that measures the speed of your downhill run or a frame mounted device that uses advanced computer vision to help the visually impaired and blind regain lost functions, then Vision Monday’s Eye2 Zone at International Vision Expo East is the place go.

Located at Booth #5525 on Level 3 of the Jacob Javits Center, the Eye2 Zone returns to Expo for the second year to offer attendees an exclusive look at some of the innovative products in vision technology. The Zone is curated by Andrew Karp, editor of Vision Monday’s Eye2 e-newsletter, who first met some of the exhibitors at the International CES, the huge consumer electronics show, in January. The 12 exhibitors in the Zone have selected International Vision Expo to be the exclusive eyecare event in which to participate.

One of the products certain to generate interest from Expo attendees is Google Glass, which is being shown in the Zone for the first time. Although yet to be released to the public, several optometrists who are Google Glass “Explorers,” including Kevin Wheat, OD, will demonstrate the much talked about smartglasses.

“I’m thrilled to be able to share this technology with my fellow colleagues,” said Wheat, who is based in Denver, Colo. “It will be interesting to see how wearable computing, like Google Glass, affects the eyecare industry over the next couple of years.”

Attendees can experience free, live demonstrations of wearable technology at "Tech Talks" from 8:00 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. Friday through Sunday in the Continuing Education area on Level 1. Registration is not required.

The following products will be on display in the Eye2 Zone: Crystalline Lens from Gunnar; Epiphany Eyewear from Vergence Labs; eSight Eyewear; Eyes-On Glasses from Evena Medical; Glass Optimized Lens Designs (GOLD) lenses from Rochester Optical; Google Glass, demonstrated by Google Glass Explorers; Pupil by Kopin; iOptik by Innovega; Orcam; Pivothead; Mind Booster PSiO 1.1; and Z3 GPS MOD Live Ski Goggles from Zeal Optics.
