KINGWOOD, Texas – Vision Source, the largest independent optometric alliance in North America, has entered into a relationship with Privia Quality Network to provide eye health and vision services to their patient base. This arrangement is designed to deliver improved outcomes for the patients of both organizations, a statement said. Collaborative care from the two organizations will now be offered to patients in Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, while the deal offers the potential for expansion as the companies grow.

Privia Quality Network is a national clinically integrated network and accountable care organization (ACO), composed of top doctors, modern technology, and an evidenced-based, patient-centered approach. Primary care and specialist physicians in the community came together to form Privia Quality Network, with a goal of sharing data, improving care coordination, collaborating on initiatives to provide better, more coordinated care to patient, according to the company.

Privia Quality Network is a part of Arlington, Va.-based Privia Health LLC, a national physician practice management and population health technology company that partners with leading doctors to keep people healthy, better manage disease, and to reward providers for delivering high value care.

Through its high-performance physician group, Privia Medical Group ACO (Privia Quality Network), and population health management programs, Privia works in close partnership with health plans and national payers to better align reimbursements to quality and outcomes. The company noted that its proprietary cloud-based technology platform, combined with an innovative approach to patient engagement and physician-driven wellness, focuses on building a better healthcare delivery system, and creating a healthier patient population.

In September 2014, Privia received $400 million in private equity financing through an affiliate of Goldman Sachs & Co. Privia will prioritize its expansion in the Virginia, Maryland, DC, New York, Atlanta, Florida, Texas and other rapidly evolving markets. Privia will align with other complementary portfolio companies within the Stamford, Conn.-based holding company, Brighton Health Group. Privia will continue to be operated and led by founder and CEO Jeff Butler and Dave Rothenberg, president, the September announcement said.

“Vision Source continues to grow and partner with innovative physician groups throughout the country. We are honored to now be able to complement Privia’s network of top doctors with our network of nearly 4,000 independent optometrists. Together, we will provide a full spectrum of care to cost-effectively detect, manage and refer the many health issues that crossover between general practitioners and optometrists,” said Jim Greenwood, president and CEO of Vision Source.

“The relationship between Vision Source and Privia is a natural fit,” said Dr. Andrew Aronson, MD, chief medical officer for Privia. “Our companies share many core values. Both organizations support preventative care and early detection and management of chronic diseases including diabetic eye disease. Both Vision Source and Privia enable independent health professionals access to integrated care delivery systems, cutting edge technology, and management tools, which allow providers to focus their attention on improving patient outcomes.”
