KINGWOOD, Texas— Vision Source has entered into an agreement with Boston-based health maintenance organization, Minuteman Health, to provide vision services for Minuteman Health New Hampshire. The Texas-based optometric alliance’s more than 40 optometrists practicing in 26 locations throughout New Hampshire will provide primary eyecare services and materials to Minuteman Health New Hampshire’s members throughout the state.

Minuteman Health is a new, member-governed, non-profit HMO comprised of over 7,500 hospitals, physicians and specialists for individuals and businesses in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Texas-based optometric alliance, Vision Source is a franchisor with more than 3,600 members at more than 2,800 locations throughout the U.S.

“Minuteman will begin to market their product at the health care exchange under the ACA, and patients can begin to register for coverage in the coming weeks,” David J. Caban, OD, senior Vision Source administrator for Northern New England told VMail. “This agreement provides primary eyecare services by Vision Source clinicians for Minuteman patients, including diagnosis, management and treating of ocular disease, as well as wellness exams for patients.”

Caban told VMail that the agreement also includes preventative care and materials. He said, “Additionally, Vision Source doctors will be assisting with the patients’ preventative care, so that the Minuteman PCPs can better manage these patients who have early ocular manifestations of systemic disease, through early diagnoses. Vision Source optometrists will provide frames, ophthalmic lenses and both medically necessary and cosmetic contact lenses to Minuteman patients, in addition to offering the Minuteman patients, practitioners and Vision Source clinicians all of the education, referral and patient flow materials needed to guarantee the success of this new relationship.”
