SARATOGA, Calif.— VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies, Inc., a developer of advanced visual prosthetic devices, including implantable miniature telescopes, for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, announced two promotions within its management team. Chet Kumar has been appointed vice president, sales and market development. Kumar most recently was the company's vice president, market and business development.

Also, VisionCare announced the promotion of Reena Mishra to senior director of marketing.

Kumar has more than 15 years of experience in ophthalmic businesses including leadership positions in the fields of market development, business development and marketing. Prior to joining VisionCare, Kumar served in marketing positions with Oculex Pharmaceuticals, a company that was acquired by Allergan.

He has played a pivotal role in the growth of VisionCare, development of its CentraSight treatment program, and creation of patient access through coverage and reimbursement. Mishra joined VisionCare in 2011 and has taken on broadened responsibilities for marketing and related areas since joining the company. Mishra, with this promotion, is responsible for global marketing, practice development, and case management. She brings more than 11 years of line marketing experience to her position in medical device technology companies in both high growth and development stages. Her experience includes marketing positions with Pivot Medical, Spinal Modulation and ArthroCare Corporation.

"Reena has demonstrated, during her three years at VisionCare, to be a broadly capable, creative and resourceful marketing executive," added Hill. "With this promotion, Reena will have broader responsibilities including practice development and the company's CentraSight Access case management program," he said.
