RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—VSP Vision Care continues to expand its footprint into the accountable care organization (ACO) marketplace. Under a unique arrangement with Renown Health, the largest nonprofit local health care leader in Northern Nevada, VSP has extended its medical eyecare services, including Renown ACO members, the company announced, pointing out that all VSP providers in Nevada can participate and provide medical eyecare services for Renown members.

Longtime leaders in the integrated eyecare arena, 45 million of VSP’s 70 million members in the U.S. are currently covered under its medical eyecare product portfolio. Through those offerings, medical eyecare services for conditions like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration are available from their VSP doctor. VSP’s full network of independent optometrists in Nevada will further align and support the delivery of medical eyecare services by coordinating care with other health care providers.

“Through our expanded partnership, we are not only able to enhance access to medical eyecare, but can also ensure closer collaboration between VSP eye doctors and other providers within Renown’s health care network to deliver more coordinated care to patients,” said Kate Renwick-Espinosa, president of VSP Vision Care. “As the leader in eyecare, VSP is well positioned to complement Renown’s accountable care model and deliver better health outcomes for patients.”

VSP indicated last August, as VMail reported that it would be ramping up its efforts to expand relationships with ACOs and independent practice associations (IPAs).
