Quick Take: The latest spring/summer 2019 collection of Derek Lam Eyewear from Modo continues the tradition of creating designs that are refined and wearable with a sense of luxury and a subtle 70s appeal.
Specifics: The new sun and optical styles from Derek Lam feature new shapes that combine retro elements and exceptional details for accessible style.
Selling Points: For optical, standout features are 18K gold-plated stainless steel frames and select models that feature leather-detailed temples that add high-end elements to timeless shapes. The new optical styles 291 and 292 are retro-styled frames that emphasize Derek Lam’s refined tradition, and 293 adds leather-wrapped lens rims for an extra detail. The 291 is a 1950s and 60s-style narrow oval cat eye silhouette, finished off with acetate around the lens rims to complement the 18K gold-plated frame. The 292 showcases an acetate semi-rim front and 18K gold-plated frame. The new design 293 is a rounded rectangular frame, with 18K gold plating and premium, leather-wrapped lens rims. For sun, Derek Lam has introduced four new sun shapes. These acetate sunglasses are all about retro shapes and color lenses. The Natalie is an angular rectangular shape, with hints of classic car design in its sharp lines and metal temples. The Mila style is an oversized pilot  shape with a straight top with faceted acetate, completed with metal temple details for that extra touch. The new Vivian sunglass is a rounded square frame with a soft cat eye, shaped with faceted acetate at different thickness and an acetate-to-metal temple design.
