MULTIMEDIA VSP Global Provides Aid During Disaster Relief Efforts in Baton Rouge By Staff Friday, October 14, 2016 3:11 PM RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—After heavy rains caused catastrophic flooding in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area, several eyecare practices were heavily impacted, causing them to close their offices for over a month. Partnering with nine VSP doctors, VSP Global was able to help more than 500 adults and children receive no-cost eyecare and replacement glasses as they needed. 433 of those received care onboard the VSP Mobile Eyes clinic. Chris Wroten, OD, at Bond-Wroten Eye Clinic in Denham Springs, Louisiana, was one of the many optometrists impacted. He shared his story on the As Eye See It blog which you can view above. VSP Global reached out to all of the VSP doctors in the area, offering solutions that included assisting Eyefinity customers with data back up to the cloud or a hosted solution at no cost for three months. Now as VSP has wrapped up efforts in Louisiana, they’re setting their sights on those impacted by Hurricane Matthew. They’re collaborating with the American Red Cross to provide access to eyecare to local patients through gift certificates and the deployment of their eyecare clinic is being considered as well.
