Safilo Group’s Board of Directors Appoints New Chairman

PADUA, Italy—The board of directors of Safilo Group S.p.A. (SFLG.MI) appointed Eugenio Razelli as chairman.

Razelli succeeds Robert Polet who resigned as chairman for personal reasons but remains as director of the company.

Razelli has been on the board since 2010 and was the CEO of Magneti Marelli S.p.A. from 2005 to 2015, the largest Italian global car components and systems manufacturer.

The board of directors also appointed the independent director, Ines Mazzilli as chair and Guido Guzzetti as a member of control risk and sustainability committee. The independent director, Marco Jesi, has been appointed as a member of the related parties transactions committee, chaired by Ines Mazzilli. Razelli resigned from his positions in the same committees.


Steve Wright
VSP’s Steve Wright Retires

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—Steve Wright, most recently president of VSP Global’s Omni-Channel Solutions business, has retired. Wright’s retirement was announced internally in April and is effective immediately.

Stated Rob Lynch, VSP Global board member and interim CEO of VSP Global, “We want to thank Steve for his 44 years of service. Steve first joined the organization in 1973 as one of the first employees at the VSP lab in Sacramento and served in a variety of leadership roles throughout his career, including as president of Altair Eyewear and senior vice president of the Americas for Marchon Eyewear, Inc. Most recently, he served as the president of VSP Global Omni-Channel Solutions. We wish him well in his retirement,” Lynch said, and noted that Wright has been a “valued member of VSP’s executive leadership team.”

A VSP spokesperson told VM that VSP Omni-Channel Solutions leadership now reports to Lynch.


Transitions Optical Announces 2017 Diversity Advisory Board Members

This seven-member Board consists of eye health, cultural and style experts for each of the largest and fastest-growing ethnic groups in the U.S. and will help guide the Transitions Cultural Connections initiative.

FYidoctors Names Scotty Turnbull General Manager of Delta Ophthalmic Lab

CALGARY, Alberta—FYidoctors recently hired Scotty Turnbull as general manager of the Delta Ophthalmic Laboratory. Turnbull brings over 30 years of experience in the eyecare industry to this new role, with a strong background in lab management that has spanned most of his career.

The Delta Ophthalmic Laboratory, located in Delta, British Columbia, is equipped with state-of-the technology. The 55,000-square-foot facility produces and distributes 100 percent internal freeform lenses, stock lenses, coatings, contact lenses and exclusive, branded and private label frames. Both the lab and its coatings are Zeiss-certified.
