LEWISVILLE, Texas—Hoya Vision Care presented a $25,000 grant to go toward the renovation of the physical plant and educational equipment at the U.C. Berkeley School of Optometry teaching laboratory. Students will have a more contemporary environment to learn and practice their knowledge and skills in the clinical area of ophthalmic optics.

“The field of optometry, especially independent practice optometry, is going to be very exciting. It is Hoya’s desire to make a meaningful contribution to the success of our future peers,” said Barney Dougher, president of Hoya Vision Care, North America.

John G. Flanagan, OD, PhD, FAAO, dean of the School of Optometry, who accepted the grant, remarked, “Having the appropriate space and equipment is an important component that compliments outstanding instruction. We are looking forward to working with Hoya more in the future.”

Hoya helps independent optometric practices by providing access to science, technology, and innovation. Practice development groups across the country, SECO, the American Optometric Association, many state and local associations as well as many schools of optometry are supported by Hoya.
