SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn.—Coburn Technologies, formerly Gerber Coburn, has established a new legal company entity and opened a new branch office in Shanghai, China. "We previously had an established presence in China though our former parent company Gerber Scientific,” said Ram Narayanan, executive director of international sales for Coburn Technologies. “However, now we have reinforced that presence with a new office and have expanded our local support team in China to offer greater service to our customers.” Alex Incera, president of Coburn Technologies, added, “We are excited about this expansion of our team and our new commitment to this geographic area as we continue with our corporate mission of supporting better vision through better lens making worldwide.” Additionally, Coburn Technologies has completed a distribution agreement with Tecnobrasil/Ramos Mejia Ind. & Com. of Brazil for the sale and service of Coburn lens surfacing products. The agreement will allow Tecnobrasil to sell Coburn surfacing products to wholesale laboratories in Brazil. These include Coburn’s new E2G alloy-free blocker, CTL series generators, polishers such as the new Launch Pad free-form system, and spin coaters, including the Stratum series. "This is an excellent opportunity for both of our companies to expand our businesses,” said Wayne Labrecque, vice president of sales for Coburn Technologies. “For Coburn, it means a greater presence in the Brazilian market, and for Tecnobrasil it means being able to offer a broader range of lens making solutions to their customers.”
