Cory Named New U.S. President of Silhouette Optical Ltd.

ALBANY, N.Y.—Jan Cory, an experienced eyewear executive, has been named the new U.S. president of Silhouette Optical, Ltd.

According to a statement from the company, Cory “has joined the Silhouette family as president U.S., reporting to Daniel Rogger, CEO of Silhouette International based in Austria, and succeeding Chris Juergens, who will be retiring after 14 years of leadership, serving the company’s U.S. subsidiary.”

Cory came to optical in 1998 as vice president of department stores for Bausch + Lomb. After B+L was later acquired by Luxottica, Cory increased market share and achieved significant growth for her division there and was promoted in 2008 to vice president of optical independents and sun specialty. Most recently, Cory was part of the senior leadership team for HVHC Inc., serving as the senior vice president of domestic sales, U.S. and Canada, for Viva International Group, directing all channels of trade.

Cory is a graduate of Miami University with a B.A. in Public Administration and Political Science. She serves on the board of the Accessories Council and is a member of the Optical Woman’s Association.

Advantica Names Scheib Vice President of Sales

ST. LOUIS—Vision and dental benefits provider, Advantica has named James W. Scheib, Jr., vice president of sales. He will oversee the sales and account management of the company’s vision and dental commercial products.

With almost 30 years of sales and marketing experience in the insurance industry, Scheib most recently served as the vice president of sales and marketing for Argus Dental & Vision, Inc., where he created and managed a sales and marketing plan and developed the commercial vision and dental infrastructure that produced sustained revenue growth throughout various distribution channels in Florida and nationwide. Scheib also held key sales positions with a number of other health plans, including AvMed Health Plans, UnitedHealthcare of Florida, and Vista Healthplan.

A member of the National Association of Health Underwriters, the National Association of Dental Plans, and the Tampa Association of Health Underwriters, Scheib previously served as the past second vice president of the Central Florida Association of Health Underwriters and as the past president of both the Capital Area and Baton Rouge Associations of Health Underwriters. He has also served his local community through charitable efforts with the Harbor House of Orlando and New Hope for Kids.

ABB Optical Group Names See Vice President of Marketing

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.— ABB Optical Group, the nation’s leading distributor of optical products, has announced that industry veteran Aaron See has joined the company as vice president of marketing.

Prior to joining ABB Optical Group, See served as vice president of marketing at Johnson & Johnson’s Vision Care division in Japan where he led a large team of professionals in the development and execution of initiatives to build the Acuvue contact lens brand.

In his new role at ABB Optical Group, See will be responsible for all marketing and communications initiatives including brand positioning, public relations and customer interaction. He also will be working closely with manufacturers on marketing initiatives and interfacing with suppliers and focus groups on product development, product pricing and product lifecycle management, the company said.

“Aaron’s impressive experience and exceptional talent for strategic marketing in the optical industry is well suited for his new role at ABB Optical Group,” said CEO Angel Alvarez.

See’s previous experience includes 16 years of serving in senior-level roles with Johnson & Johnson for brands such as Vistakon in the company’s Vision Care Division, and Tylenol, St. Joseph Aspirin and Motrin in the company’s McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division.

McMinn Named Vice President of Marketing for Company Formed by Merger of Superior Vision and Block Vision

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., and LINTHICUM, Md.—Kathleen McMinn has been named vice president of marketing for the company formed by the merger of Superior Vision and Block Vision in December 2013. She succeeds Carol Misso, who had been vice president of marketing for Superior Vision since January 2009.

Specializing in business-to-business and business-to-business-to-consumer marketing, McMinn was previously vice president of marketing for TransitChek (acquired by WageWorks in February 2013) and vice president of Weight Watchers and ADP. She will be based in the company’s New Jersey office.

Inspecs USA Names Matt Dorling VP of Business Development

CLEARWATER, Fla.— Inspecs USA has named Matt Dorling vice president of business development. In his new role, Dorling will support and grow the company’s partnerships within the independent ECP sector across North America and Canada.

Dorling spent more than a decade as an optician in the UK before taking a position with Transitions in 1999. At Transitions he grew from trade developer UK to country manager UK before moving on to Carl Zeiss UK as divisional manager. He returned to Transitions Optical in 2006, relocating to Clearwater, Fla., and his current role with Inspecs USA.

According to the company, driving Dorling’s business ethic is the “belief that relationships, partnerships and teams are best built on the strengths of people, and harnessing those strengths toward the common goal of over delivering to our customers.”


 
John Haigh Nic Kane
Schneider Optical Machines Adds Two Managers

THE COLONY, Texas—Schneider Optical Machines recently named John Haigh as sales manager for the Western U.S. and Canada and Nic Kane as product manager, consumables.

Haigh joins the Schneider team with over 23 years of optical industry experience. Formerly a co-owner of J & J Optical, Haigh is a past president of the California Optical Laboratory Association (COLA) and a past director of the Optical Laboratory Association (OLA). He brings a depth of industry knowledge and a unique perspective to his new role as Schneider’s Western regional sales manager, coupled with a strong background that includes lab processing, lens manufacturing, and AR coatings.

Kane also comes to Schneider with a strong optical background and entrepreneurial experience, having started two companies in the industry.
