BOSTON, Mass.—Kris Koenig, writer, director and producer of the documentary “Sight: The Story of Vision,” delivered the keynote speech at the commencement ceremony for the New England College of Optometry (NECO) on May 21. The film, narrated by Sir Elton John, highlights the history of vision, optical devices, and other treatments used to improve sight and treat ocular diseases. For the film’s contribution to public health education, NECO awarded Koenig a Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

At the ceremony, Dr. David Fleishman, ophthalmologist and “Sight” executive producer, received a Presidential Medal for his work in creating the world’s largest virtual optical museum. Dr. Blair Wong, OD, faculty member at NECO and Benjamin Franklin Institute, was also awarded a Presidential Medal for engaging student involvement.
