SCENE + HEARD Oakley Throws ‘Disruptive by Design’ Launch Celebration By Staff Monday, March 17, 2014 12:00 AM LOS ANGELES—Oakley unveiled their new brand platform and Disruptive by Design campaign, and celebrated 30 years of sport performance eyewear, at a highly experiential, audio-visual launch event held Feb. 24 at RED Studios, established by Oakley founder Jim Jannard, in Hollywood, Calif. Vision Monday was on hand at the celebration of the brand’s past, present and future where Oakley offered guests, including global media, Oakley designers and engineers, as well as athletes and celebrities, exclusive insight into the future of Oakley design and R&D. In addition to launching their global media campaign, the company debuted an exclusive video voiced by two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey that told the Oakley story of disruption. Guest included sports stars like Greg LeMond, Shaun White, Bubba Watson, Jamie Anderson, Lindsey Vonn, Gretchen Blieler and Kerri Walsh, and celebrities such as Ashley Green, Lil Jon, Adrian Grenier, Nick Cannon and Kelly Osbourne. 1/12 RED Studios, established by Oakley founder Jim Jannard, in Hollywood, Calif. was the setting of the Disruptive by Design campaign launch.
