Last week, VMail reported that spending two hours outside a week can lead to better health overall. According to a new study in Frontiers in Psychology and reported by Harvard Health, spending 20 minutes outside each day can help reduce stress overall, and help us get to that two hour a week benchmark. According to the research, 36 people spent 10 minutes or longer, three days a week for eight weeks, in an outdoor place where they could interact with nature. The people were instructed not to exercise beforehand and to avoid things like phone calls, social media, conversations, and reading. At the end of the study, researchers found that spending at least 20 to 30 minutes in a nature setting was associated to the largest drop in cortisol levels. Head over to Harvard Health for the full story on how getting outside can help you relax.
