Bold Face explores the cult of celebrity and the styles, trends and brands that stars show off in movies, at events and living their daily lives. To be considered for inclusion please contact senior editor, Deirdre Carroll.

Outside of the trailer and the critics’ reviews, a film’s poster is best way to encourage moviegoers to spend a little bit of their entertainment $$. In this edition, we feature three posters whose featured eyewear Bold Face believes gives those movies an extra leg up…

As if Woody Allen and Cate Blanchet’s involvement weren’t enough incentive, the poster for Blue Jasmine features prominent placement of Marchon’s Fendi FS5281 sun style perched prominently on Ms. Blanchet’s head. Directed by Allen, the film was released on July 26 and follows the life of Blanchet’s character, Jasmine. After everything in her life falls to pieces, including her marriage to a wealthy businessman named Hal (played by Alec Baldwin), Jasmine, an elegant New York socialite, moves into her sister's modest apartment in San Francisco to pull herself back together again. Early Oscar buzz is rampant on this film, but if nothing else you need to see it for the heroine’s fabulous taste in sunglasses….

A compelling poster can really help attract an audience for an indie flick. Breathe In, directed by Drake Doremus and staring Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2013. The film, about a foreign exchange student (Jones) who arrives in a small upstate New York town and challenges the dynamics of her host family's relationships, ultimately altering their lives forever, was released in the U.K. in July. Expect it hit theaters in the U.S. this fall but if you happen to see a poster of the movie before then, those awesome glasses in Pearce’s close up are the New Yorker from Dita

Our last film can hardly be considered an “indie” flick but that doesn’t mean its strategic use of stylish eyewear in one of its posters should be ignored. Fans of the Hunger Games no doubt have their favorite Tribute but Bold Face has become partial to Beetee (played by actor Jeffrey Wright) from the upcoming installment of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire movie. In the poster, the Tribute from District 3 wears the Moscot Lemtosh for his official portrait. Fans of the books know Beetee’s fate after the Third Quarter Quell but let’s hope nothing happens to his glasses. Catching Fire is scheduled for a Nov. 27, 2013 release.
